WFDSS References

WFDSS has a variety of resources to assist with system use including a frequently updated page-level, context-sensitive Online Help, an extensive Training Page with webinars, videos, and Quick Tips, as well as additional reference information on fire behavior, 508 compliance and glossaries of terms. To see the complete list of references and related resources, see the WFDSS site.

Data

Data

The WFDSS application is "data rich". It requires spatially oriented data and graphically displays information to assist the fire managers and analysts in making strategic decisions for fire incidents. Due to the type and number of interagency spatial data sets required, an interagency GIS Team was formed to provide data support for WFDSS.

Sensors and key components of a Remote Automatic Weather Station (RAWS) station must be recalibrated or replaced on a regular basis to ensure the collection of consistent and reliable weather data. The Remote Sensing / Fire Weather Support Unit (RSFWSU) depot located in Boise, Idaho provides technical calibration, repair, and administrative support for these sensors and key components used throughout the RAWS interagency network.
